Volunteer Opportunity: Next Level – Dohar, Mochigara, Samagara Brothers and Sisters Union

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Karnataka Trimatastha Sri Guru Ravidasa Parishad is a state-level organization dedicated to scientific thinking, progressive objectives, and selfless operations aimed at the overall prosperity of the tanners, known by the names Dohar, Mochigara, and Samagara. Here, everyone is equal—no one is more or less important. The welfare of our community is our utmost priority!

For centuries, our people, who share a common origin and have engaged in the leather trade, have been isolated due to misconceptions and a lack of historical awareness. The Parishad’s mission is to bring together these three groups under a foundation of trust, unity, and mutual respect, breaking down the caste divisions that have hindered our progress. By fostering professional, social, and cultural unity, we strive to build a strong and empowered community.

Since its establishment in 2018 at Basava Bhavan, Bangalore, the Parishad has actively worked toward these goals. Originally registered as ‘Karnataka Trimastha Tanners Parishad,’ it has been re-registered as ‘Trimastha Sri Guru Ravidasa Parishad.’

The Challenges We Face:

  • Over 90% of our families live below the poverty line due to historic disunity.
  • Social discrimination continues due to outdated caste perceptions.
  • We have neglected the teachings of Buddha, Basava, and Baba Saheb.
  • Educational and social awareness levels remain low.
  • We lack essential resources like land, industries, and proper representation in government and civil services.

The only way forward is to reclaim our rights and uplift our community through collective effort. Over the years, we have petitioned multiple leaders, including the Chief Ministers and Union Ministers, and submitted various proposals.

Council Schemes and Initiatives:

  1. Establishment of a Separate Development Corporation to focus on tripartite community welfare.
  2. Unified Spiritual Leadership through a single Gurupeeth and shared Guru recognition.
  3. Creation of State-Level Educational Institutions to enhance literacy and skill development.
  4. Accurate Census of the Tripartite Community to ensure fair representation and benefits.
  5. Formation of Cooperative Societies to improve financial independence.
  6. Housing Initiatives through the Tripartite Housing Co-operative Society.
  7. Community Centers and Libraries in major towns for cultural and educational activities.
  8. Hostels for Students equipped with libraries and necessary facilities.
  9. Alternative Professions for Traditional Workers to provide clean and sustainable employment.
  10. Permanent Registration Center for Brides and Grooms to facilitate matrimonial alliances within the community.
  11. Revival of the Dharwad Mochigara Co-operative Credit Society as a financial institution dedicated to community welfare.
  12. Publication of Literature and Historical Records to raise awareness about our heritage.
  13. Cultural Forums such as Sneha Sampada, Yuva Kala Mandali, and Women’s Forum to promote artistic and social engagement.
  14. Restoration of Historical Shrines linked to the Trimatastha tradition.
  15. Establishment of a Fixed Fund of one crore rupees through donations to ensure financial security for community initiatives.

Our Key Demands from the Government:

  • Recognition of the 18 castes within our community as a separate category instead of being clubbed under the 6% Madiga reservation.
  • Reclassification of the Dohar community from the nomadic category back to the Tripartite Tanner Group.
  • Reservation of at least 5 constituencies for the Tripartite community in the Karnataka Assembly.
  • Nomination of a Tripartite member to the Karnataka Legislative Council.
  • Mandatory appointment of a Tripartite representative in the Karnataka Public Service Commission.
  • Revival of the Dharwad Mochigara Co-operative Credit Society for community financial support.
